Garden
Garden is a packaging design for plant essential oils. The structure combines a box with a pop-up mechanism, a technique usually found in interactive books. When the packaging is opened, chairs rise and a garden stage background unfolds, together with a swinging ballerina figure. The scene turns the act of opening into a short performance rather than a simple task. The packaging is made of degradable plant fiber paper. The pop-up structure enriches the interior space and supports the garden theme of the product. The overall size is 290 by 150 by 86 millimeters.
Garden Essential Oil Packaging by Ethan Zhang has been recognized as a grand representation of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Garden Essential Oil Packaging earned the Iron A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2020. The A' Packaging Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which rewards excellent design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
