Lovely Xinjiang
Lovely Xinjiang is the visual identity of a large restaurant in Urumqi, Xinjiang. The design draws on the local Uygur craft of grinding and joining bricks, seen on traditional building surfaces. Cultural elements of the region are drawn as simple graphic blocks and joined into larger figures. Each block stands for a different culture, and together the blocks form one complete picture. The identity is applied through the restaurant, which includes 56 private rooms, each themed on a national tradition. The intent is to present the many cultures of Xinjiang as one whole.
Lovely Xinjiang Restaurant by Jie Yang has been highlighted as an innovative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award. Lovely Xinjiang Restaurant received the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2020. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is a highly prestigious international design award that rewards excellent design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
