Laote Breweries
Laote Breweries is a packaging design for craft beer sold in 500 ml aluminium cans. The design centres on a detailed badge that refers to the history and tradition of a brewing family. The badge is intended to suggest careful hand brewing and to invite curiosity about the taste. Craft beer is made in small batches rather than through large industrial production. In China, industrial beer is widely available, so small batch brewing is seen as valuable. Spot colour printing is used on the cans to keep the badge clear and precise.
Laote Breweries Craft Beer by Zhangyong Hou was selected as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award. Laote Breweries Craft Beer was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2020. The A' Packaging Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition which celebrates superior design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
