Lantern Transformation
Lantern Transformation is a mooncake packaging tin created for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The container is made of food safe tinplate, formed by precision stamping and seamless welding. The exterior carries hand painted bird and flower motifs, protected by a water resistant coating. After the mooncakes are eaten, the lid is flipped and clicks into place as a lantern shade. An integrated lighting module is then switched on, and the empty tin becomes an ambient lamp. The tool free change extends the life of the package and reduces waste.
Lantern Transformation Mooncake Packaging by Alan YanLun Wu was highlighted as an exceptional representation of communication design by the A' Design Award.
